Curriculum Spiral
A curriculum spiral is a way that you can display your program themes or objectives. An example of a Curriculum Spiral chart is from Alaska Native Knowledge Network’s Culturally-Based Curriculum Resources.
A spiral can be used to communicate aspects of your program that are iterative or cyclical. Rather than a linear display, the spiral evokes a sense of return, showing the movement of your program through aspects that will be revisited, deepened, or expanded upon each time you return to them.
You can use this spiral template on the following page to indicate themes or topics that you will return to throughout your program or in subsequent iterations of your program.
Write each of your themes around the outside of the spiral, in this example there is space for six. Inside the spiral is space to indicate that you are returning to these themes five times. You could create a different sized spiral to communicate your program, depending on your needs.
